Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has been convicted of bribery and abuse of power.
Sarkozy was accused of attempting, with the help of his legal advisor in 2014, to learn secrets related to an investigation from Court of Cassation official Gilbert Azibert about a separate campaign finance investigation.
In return, Sarkozy offered the lawyer support for a position in Monaco.
The prosecution sought a four-year prison sentence, with two years suspended. Sarkozy's defense team requested his acquittal.
The trial also involved Sarkozy's lawyer Thierry Herzog and Azibert.
