Why is HDZ BiH still promising a third entity against the messages from the European Parliament?

From political circles of HDZ BiH, they are saying that only federalization, i.e., the creation of a third entity with a majority Croatian population, can lead Bosnia and Herzegovina towards the European Union. Those who oppose such ethnic divisions in BiH, claim the proponents of the idea, "oppose the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina".

The messages of Dragan Čović and Božo Ljubić have been denied by the European Parliament. Brussels will not support new divisions in BiH. Jasenko Selimović, a Swedish MEP of BiH origin, told Patria that even the latest amendments on the federalization of BiH did not receive support in the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, held on Tuesday.

- Federalization in the Bosnian case means some ethnic division or ethnic federalization... But, regardless of what is meant by this term, it cannot receive support in the European Parliament. We have removed all of that from the Declaration – said Selimović.

A source from the news agency Patria in the European Parliament, who spoke on condition of anonymity, says that official Brussels is aware of the third entity narrative that HDZ is increasingly promoting. European officials are aware that this narrative is largely used as populist rhetoric by politicians, who thereby increase their rating among voters.

Nevertheless, this source further claims, Dragan Čović will have to abandon his inflammatory rhetoric very soon. The propaganda he uses has contributed to further divisions in Bosnian society. Due to nationalist rhetoric, many young people of Croatian nationality do not perceive Bosnia and Herzegovina as their homeland, which is detrimental to both them and the country.

Dragan Čović has support for the third entity only from the president of the BiH entity Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, and his associates. The thesis from RS is that BiH should get another, third entity with a majority Croatian population, but that it should not encompass parts of the BiH entity Republika Srpska, but only the territory of the Federation of BiH.

HDZ 1990 MP in the BiH Parliament, Diana Zelenika, recently stated openly at a session of the Croatian National Assembly in Mostar that she considers HDZ's policy to be populist and that it will not bring good to anyone.

- The people are promised everything, while existential issues are skipped. Catastrophic unemployment is compensated with national-political topics. Topics that are usually accompanied by unprincipled coalitions, which generally bring nothing but increased national tensions, and the result of such a policy, of course not only from our side, is the absence of coexistence.

With worn-out promises about an imaginary, never precisely defined third entity, it's been 22 years of the same... truly nothing!

It is time for those who bought or stole many companies for invented certificates or whatever they called them... it is time for them to leave, i.e., to answer to the people and the law. Their project, that Croats are leaving their homes, while they and their families live on estates of tens of square kilometers, that story no longer works even in Latin America.

Gentlemen, dear friends, only with quality and honest Croatian policy can we light the Croatian hearths in Posavina, keep the hosts there, have a glass of rakija to treat both neighbors and friends, enrich and preserve our Bosnia and Herzegovina! Everything else is conscious destruction or a great delusion – Zelenika stated, among other things.
