Spring phase of systematic deratization completed in Sarajevo Canton, number of leptospirosis cases decreasing

(Patria) - Minister of Health of Sarajevo Canton Enis Hasanović held a working meeting with representatives of the Cantonal Inspectorate Administration, the Public Health Institute of Sarajevo Canton, and representatives of the Consortium of contractors who carried out the mandatory systematic preventive deratization.

It was stated at the meeting that the spring phase of deratization was successfully implemented, in accordance with the valid anti-epidemic measures. Activities, in accordance with the Program, continue through intervention deratization with constant supervision and expert control by the Public Health Institute of Sarajevo Canton and the Cantonal Inspectorate Administration.

It was agreed that additional coordination meetings will be organized in the coming period with KJKP „Vodovod i kanalizacija“ and the Coordination Board for Monitoring Deratization of Sarajevo Canton, with the aim of improving inter-sectoral cooperation and responding more effectively to potential challenges in the field. Based on the analysis of the activities carried out so far, planning of the next steps and further evaluation of the success of the implemented deratization will commence.

Deratization remains a continuous process that will be carried out throughout the year, with a focus on preserving public health and preventing the occurrence and spread of infectious diseases.

Also, the draft of a new deratization program is currently being prepared, and it is important to note that in the recent period, a decrease in the number of leptospirosis cases has been recorded, that the epidemiological situation is under control, and that all competent institutions are continuously monitoring the situation in the field and taking necessary measures.
