Campaign concluded: Who will enter councils from 30,000 candidates, and who will be mayor or city mayor

Another election campaign in Bosnia and Herzegovina has concluded.

Candidates for council members, aldermen, mayors, and city mayors were tireless in the field for a month. From overflowing mailboxes, street conversations with citizens to putting up posters on poles, trees, and trash cans...

More than 30,000 candidates applied for these positions. On Sunday evening, the first results will be known as to who has won council and alderman mandates in 141 municipal and city councils and assemblies, and who among them has fought their way to the positions of 131 mayors and 10 city mayors.

As many as 38 independent candidates applied for the positions of mayor and city mayor.

According to all indicators, the Sarajevo municipality of Stari Grad will be led for the next four years by Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, while the Center and Novi Grad are expected to be taken over by Democratic Front candidates Samer Rešidat and Goran Kovačević. 

In Ilijaš, independent candidate Enes Durak has the best chance of becoming mayor, as does Nedžad Koldžo (SDA) in Novo Sarajevo, and his party colleague Senaid Memić in Ilidža.

If SDA does not resort to manipulation and vote theft, as announced by independent candidate for mayor in Zenica Fuad Kasumović, he should secure victory because he is performing best in the field and enjoys a good reputation among the citizens of the "city of steel".

Victory is quite certain for another independent candidate, Amra Babić in Visoko, who has already proven herself as a successful mayor in her municipality.

In Tuzla, it is uncertain, as SDP candidate Jasmin Imamović and DF candidate Alen Gadžo have equal chances.

In Kalesija, it is a dead heat between SDP candidate Muhamed Osmanović and independent candidate Sead Džafić.

In Jablanica, the mayor could be from either SDP or SDA, as there is also a dead heat between Damir Šabanović and Salem Dedić, similar to Kalesija.

It is also uncertain in Maglaj - Muhamed Osmić (SDA) or Mirsad Mahmutagić (SDP) will be the mayor of this municipality.

SDP candidate in Bihać, Hajrudin Havić, is most likely the new mayor of the city on the Una River, in Cazin it is Almin Handanagić (SDA-SBB), and in Bužim, DF candidate Hilmija Nanić.

Independent candidate Muhamed Ramović will be the mayor of Goražde for the next four years, Admir Hadžiemrić (SDA-SBB) in Travnik, and Senad Balihodžić from DF in Donji Vakuf.

Stolac, Srebrenica, Banja Luka...

Stolac and Srebrenica are cities this year where the fight is literally for the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. There is a fierce race between the candidate of all pro-Bosniak parties, Salmir Kaplan, who could take over Stolac from HDZ BiH after 26 years of rule.

Also, Ćamil Duraković is facing huge problems and manipulations in the field, and despite everything, he has a great chance to continue serving as mayor. 

The race between the Alliance for Change candidate Dragan Čavić and SNSD's Igor Radojičić has begun, and it is completely uncertain who of the two will be the new mayor of Banja Luka. If Milorad Dodik loses this city, it will be the beginning of the end of his political career, as well as the collapse of his party.
