Meeting of SDA and HDZ BiH concluded: No one is unacceptable yet and doors are open to everyone

The meeting of the leaders of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) and the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) BiH began at 3:00 PM at the SDA headquarters in Sarajevo and ended shortly after 4:30 PM, reports a reporter from the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

After the meeting, at a press conference, Bakir Izetbegović said that he had a substantive meeting with Čović, emphasizing that they assessed that the basis for forming the government will be precisely the SDA and HDZ BiH at all levels.

- We assessed that it is necessary to proceed with forming the government at all levels. Likewise, coalitions must be formed on the basis of a program. When it comes to the SDA, these are talks about the EU, NATO, the fight against corruption and crime, citizen security, the economy, constitutional amendments, the Election Law, and social justice, said Izetbegović.

The President of HDZ BiH, Dragan Čović, said that he informed Izetbegović about his talks with representatives of the SNSD in Mostar.

- The goal is to establish government at all levels. I believe that within ten days we will have programmatic frameworks and a clear agreement on party relations at all levels when it comes to these two parties. I am optimistic and maintain that we can have a government by the end of the year. The most significant issue we discussed today is how to stabilize the economic situation in BiH, so I believe that within ten days we will have a clear agreement. There is no issue on which these two parties will not have a common stance, said Čović.

Before the meeting, Bakir Izetbegović, the deputy president of the SDA, also gave statements to the media, saying he expects an agreement between the two parties.

- HDZ BiH and the SDA are the basic coalition. We will invite others to talk with us, and after that, we will form useful coalitions and distributions. No one is unacceptable yet, and doors are open to everyone. This is a joint matter, and everyone is in play. The SNSD is one of the main partners because they won in the RS and have the largest number of Serbian deputies in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, said Izetbegović.

Dragan Čović, the leader of HDZ BiH, said he is pleased that the SDA and HDZ BiH will discuss everything.

We will talk about everything we discussed at the bilateral meeting. I am sure we will agree to arrange a swift procedure for establishing the government and to build a common platform at all levels of government in BiH, said Čović.
