Process of certifying political entities for the 2024 Local Elections completed, submission of candidate lists begins

(Patria) - The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has completed the process of certifying political entities for the 2024 Local Elections, which will be held on October 6 this year.

A total of 122 applications from political parties were received, of which 117 were officially certified. Additionally, 238 applications for certification of independent candidates were submitted, of which 146 were certified, including 43 independent candidates representing national minorities.

Of the 55 parties whose certification was rejected, 10 filed an appeal. The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed all decisions of the Central Election Commission of BiH. A total of 59 applications for certification of coalitions and 9 applications for certification of lists of independent candidates were also received, and all were certified.

During the certification of coalitions and independent candidates, some political parties and independent candidates participate in the elections only within a coalition or a list of independent candidates. Therefore, a total of 300 political entities should appear on the ballots, provided they have a certified candidate list, namely 113 political parties, 76 independent candidates, 43 independent candidates representing national minorities, 59 coalitions, and 9 lists of independent candidates.

The process of submitting candidate lists begins today, June 26, 2024, and will last until July 8, 2024, ending at 4:00 PM. Submission of candidate lists is done via the online portal "e-izbori".

All information on how to submit candidate lists, as well as their certification, will be available in the form of a presentation on the website and social media of the Central Election Commission of BiH.
