The 22nd Sarajevo Film Festival concluded with the presentation of the Heart of Sarajevo awards at the National Theatre of Sarajevo, which this year once again gathered a large number of filmmakers, actors, directors, and enthusiasts of this art form, reports the BH news agency Patria.
The Heart of Sarajevo award for best actress went to Irena Ivanova for her role in the film "Godless," which was screened as part of the Feature Film Competition program of the Sarajevo Film Festival. Gheorghe Visu was named best actor for his role in the film "Dogs," which was screened as part of the Competition Program of the Sarajevo Film Festival.
The Heart of Sarajevo for best feature film went to the film "Album" directed by Mehmet Can Mertoglu.
The best short film is "Transition" directed by Milica Tomović.
The film "Godless" received the Heart of Sarajevo as a special jury award in the Competition Program.
The best documentary film is "A Mere Breath" directed by Monica Lazurean-Gorgan.
It should be noted that the 22nd Sarajevo Film Festival opened with the screening of the film "Taxi Driver," and its main star, Robert De Niro, received the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award for Lifetime Achievement, which was awarded for the first time this year.
A total of 222 films from 61 countries were screened at this year's Sarajevo Film Festival, divided into 18 different programs and shown at seven locations, with the total duration of all films amounting to nearly 200 hours.
