Detention requested for person suspected of trafficking 666 kilograms of drugs

(Patria) - The prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has submitted a motion to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the imposition of a detention measure against the suspect V.A., born in 1981. The said suspect, for whom a police search had been issued, was deprived of liberty yesterday, and the deprivation of liberty was carried out by police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency - SIPA.

The suspect is under investigation in the context of a case in which, earlier this year, at the Gradiška border crossing, a truck shipment of the narcotic drug "marijuana"-skank in the amount of approximately 666 kilograms was seized, which is one of the largest seizures of narcotic drugs this year.

Within the framework of the case, three suspects were previously deprived of liberty, so that with yesterday's deprivation of liberty, a total of 4 suspects have been deprived of liberty.

The detention measure was proposed for the reasons described in Article 132, paragraph 1, points a) and b) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, i.e., due to the risk of flight of the suspect, who had been sought for several months, and the risk that, if at liberty, the suspect could obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence, and influence witnesses or accomplices. The motion for detention has been submitted to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
