Urgent oversight requested for Hotel Jablanica by competent authorities

(Patria) - Following last week's assault on an employee of Hotel Jablanica, the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Policy has filed a report with all competent institutions to conduct oversight within this business entity within their jurisdictions.

The Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Policy derives its authority from the Labour Law, and all violations of workers' rights resulting from non-compliance with departmental laws fall under the responsibility of this ministry, while the act of physical assault itself falls outside the Ministry's jurisdiction and is the responsibility of law enforcement agencies.

However, as the relevant minister Adnan Delić points out, this unfortunate event was caused by previous violations of workers' rights related to non-payment of wages, mobbing, worker exploitation, and a series of other violations that inspection bodies should investigate and impose all necessary sanctions against this business entity.

“Gross violations of workers' rights are not new in our country, and we all know about undeclared work, grey zone employment, envelope wages, mobbing, unpaid overtime, and other examples of negative practices.

However, in most cases, workers remain silent and, for fear of losing their jobs, do not report employers to the competent institutions. We must replace the culture of silence and resignation with a culture of clear and articulated struggle against all forms of injustice and law violations, demanding that everyone does their job effectively and within their jurisdiction, because only then can we change anything,” stated Minister Delić.

He also noted that the Ministry can only order oversight and investigation of the allegations in the report to the competent inspectorate administrations upon receiving the report.

After speaking with employee Klepo, who shared her experience with the public, and becoming acquainted with all the violations of workers' rights within this business entity, the federal minister has requested oversight from all competent institutions, which are expected to conduct their oversight as soon as possible and provide the Ministry with their findings upon completion of the oversight.
