Opposition MPs preempted by colleagues from the ruling coalition, Čavalić seeks answers from FUP and Supervisory Board regarding Munjić's threatening letter to media

(Patria) - Party of BiH MP Admir Čavalić posed a question to the acting head of the Federal Police Administration Vahidin Munjić and the Supervisory Board of the FBiH Parliament at today's session of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament.

"Is it true that a media outlet is being threatened, that some editorial interventions are being sent, that an attempt is being made to change the editorial policy of a media outlet, in this case Hayat Television, and possibly other media outlets. Is this the way they work and is it within the scope of the FUP, and is the Supervisory Board monitoring this. And were indirect threats also sent within that letter that was published last night?", said Čavalić, who also posed several other questions to the FBiH Government.

Although the first hour of the session was supposed to be reserved for MPs' questions, the new practice is that MPs sign up to ask questions earlier, and today MPs from the ruling parties preempted the opposition MPs.

Adnan Efendić, an MP from the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), said that it seems the session is starting before the session itself.

"The session started at 10:15 AM, and the list for asking questions was already full. Should I come a day earlier to be able to exercise my right according to the Rules of Procedure to ask oral questions? This is the second or third session where we cannot get our turn. Please tell us when exactly we should come to exercise our right," Efendić stated.

Dragan Mioković (Our Party), the Speaker of the House, said that the registration system is activated the moment MPs enter the hall.

"Since I've been presiding over sessions, I usually arrive 15 minutes early, and it has never happened that the list was not full," Mioković said.

His statement was contested by Mahir Mešalić, an MP from the Democratic Front, who claimed that the ruling majority had pre-arranged the schedule to prevent the opposition from asking questions.

"What you are saying, Mr. Speaker, is not true. I arrived ten minutes early and the list was already full. I will not be as mild as my colleague from SDA – I will clearly state that the government agreed for everyone to sign up so that the opposition could not ask questions. Especially in the context of the 'Spengavanje' affair.

We did not get the opportunity to ask questions to the Government or any other institution. MPs have never been as active as they are today. I want the public to know that we arrived on time, but the session started earlier than usual, just to avoid this," said Mešalić.
