House of Representatives: Opposition seeks dismissal of Marinko Čavara

(Patria) - Nineteen opposition MPs today requested the dismissal of the Speaker of the House of Representatives of BiH, Marinko Čavara.

The decision on the dismissal of MP Marinko Čavara from the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH - member of the Collegium of the House of Representatives was signed by the following MPs: Darko Babalj, Milan Dunović, Jasmin Emrić, Šerif Špago, Mira Pekić, Vlatko Glavaš, Elvisa Hodžić, Edin Ramić, Mladen Bosić, Zlatan Begić, Šemsudin Dedić, Midhat Čaušević, Branislav Borenović, Denijal Tulumović, Šemsudin Mehmedović, Nenad Grković, Nermin Mandra, Amor Mašović and Safet Kešo.

The justification for the decision states that the Speaker of the House of Representatives of BiH, Marinko Čavara, at the 10th session of the House - held on August 22, 2023, at the 6th emergency session of the House - held on August 28, 2023, and at the 11th session of the House - held on September 21, 2023, by abusing the position of Speaker, grossly violated the rights and duties of opposition MPs regulated by the Rules of Procedure of the House of Representatives during the debate at the aforementioned sessions, interrupting discussions and taking away the floor from MPs without justified reason and outside of prescribed procedures.

"On several occasions during the aforementioned sessions, he interpreted the Rules of Procedure of the House, even though he is not competent to do so.

The presence of members of the Council of Ministers was not ensured at the sessions, although this is a procedural obligation, which was particularly evident when asking parliamentary questions at the 10th and 11th sessions of the House, when there was no one to answer the questions.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Marinko Čavara, violated the Rules of Procedure of the House when scheduling the 7th emergency session at the request of fourteen MPs, considering that the request for holding an emergency session was submitted on September 11, 2023, and the session was scheduled for September 21, 2023," the decision states.
