Opposition MPs on the situation at KCUS: Zaimović to schedule a session within 48 hours

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Following the postponement of the thematic session of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the situation at KCUS at the request of 21 MPs, which was unilaterally renamed by the Speaker of the House Mirsad Zaimović into a thematic session on healthcare in the FBiH, representatives of Naša stranka, SDP BiH, A-SDA, and Narod i pravda held a press conference today. Zaimović was asked to convene the session within 48 hours.  

Damir Mašić, an MP in the Parliament of FBiH, said that the Speaker had already violated the rules of procedure because he did not schedule the session within the prescribed deadline.

"Then, seven days before the session was to be held, it was cancelled because the federal Minister of Health allegedly was unable to collect data from the cantonal ministries," said Mašić. He added that if the Speaker does not schedule the session, the MPs will organize the session themselves. 

"The management received 1.7 million KM for education, but only 4,000 was spent. No one returned the difference. We are not interested in the balance sheet; we are interested in the quality of service. The accommodation capacity has been reduced by 20 percent. These are all staggering facts. Someone is preventing us from discussing the public interest. We are sending a message that they will have to answer to the citizens. No one in this country should be untouchable; this is not a private company, it is an institution that must provide services to citizens. KCUS is stagnating due to savings, just so someone can appear as a manager," said Mašić.

Sabina Ćudić, an MP from Naša stranka in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of FBiH, stated that in the last two terms of this House, there has been no discussion about the situation at the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo and other clinical centers in the Federation.

"Ignoring the situation in these healthcare institutions has been going on for the last five years. We have every right to discuss this, given that the Federation itself finances KCUS with more than 50 million KM, so citizens give that much money without the possibility of discussing the quality of services provided to them," said Ćudić.
