MPs Give Consent for Construction of Block 7 in Tuzla

The FBiH Parliament gave its consent for the construction of Block 7 in Tuzla at today's session. With 53 votes in favour, six against, and 15 abstentions, conclusions on the construction of Block 7 at the Tuzla thermal power plant were adopted, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

As previously confirmed by the General Director of JP Elektroprivreda BiH, Elvedin Grabovica, the existing blocks will start to be decommissioned in 2018, and no new ones have been built, nor can the existing ones be repaired to extend their lifespan. Therefore, in addition to creating jobs and stimulating the economy, this also means job security for 3,000 miners from the "Kreka" mine.

MPs accepted the information on the selection of a project partner for joint investment in the construction of Block 7 in Tuzla, and gave their consent for the selection of the Chinese consortium that will build Block 7. A conclusion was also adopted according to which the Government will regularly inform the Parliament about all activities, writes Patria.

The offer from the project partner, the Chinese Consortium Gezhouba Group Company Limited (CGGC), China and Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute (GEDI), China, is worth 785.6 million euros. The proposed financing model includes 15 percent own contribution from EPBiH and 85 percent loan from EXIM Bank. The CGGC and GEDI consortium will carry out the work on a "turnkey" basis.
