Deputies on 16 January on the appointment of Božović and the fate of BiH judicial police officers

(Patria) - The third session of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina is scheduled for 16 January, and the agenda also includes the confirmation of the appointment of the Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH. Mlađen Božović, candidate for Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH, did not receive the support of the majority of members of the Commission for the Preparation of the Election of the Council of Ministers of BiH to recommend him to the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH for that position.

Of the 10 present members of the Commission, four were against (SDP, NS, A-SDA and PDP), four in favor (PDA, DNS, HDZ and SP) and two abstained (SDA and SBB).
Incidentally, this decision is not binding for the House of Representatives, which will decide on the election of Božović independently of the Commission's stance.

Incidentally, the agenda is extensive with 56 items, and deputies will also consider the Information on the work of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH for 2017! A debate will also be held on the annual reports of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH for 2017 and 2018.

Among the more significant legislative solutions, the Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Law on Judicial Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, proposed by the Council of Ministers of BiH, will be considered.
The amendments to the Law align the labor status of Judicial Police officers of BiH with other police officers in Bosnia and Herzegovina. At the same time, the competencies are defined, i.e., the tasks and duties of the Judicial Police of BiH are specified, as well as its powers in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH.
