Why hasn't the FBiH Government moved into the EP BiH building, for whose renovation millions of KM were spent?

The uproar over the closure of the General Hospital “Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš” in Sarajevo is not subsiding. Citizens are on daily watch in front of the building, writing letters of support, and petitions have been launched. The entire chaos was triggered by the announcement that this hospital would be merged with the UKCS, where Sebija Izetbegović is now the director, reports the Patria news agency.

According to unofficial information, the FBiH Government is supposedly supposed to move into the General Hospital building as early as this year.

This was indirectly confirmed in the SDA's response to the SDP, in which they state that the "SDP's panicked reaction is probably caused by the fear of losing the substantial rent they collect for housing the FBiH Government in a building that is not their property but state property."

However, either the SDA, led by Bakir Izetbegović, has a short memory, or this is just another in a series of political deals from which individuals profit, thinking that no one remembers the previous “moves,” but it is worth recalling that six years ago the FBiH Government was supposed to move into the newly built part of the Elektroprivreda BiH building.

At that time, several million KM were spent on renovating the EP BiH premises, but the Government never moved out of the premises on Alipašina Street, which it still uses today.

As a reminder, in February 2009, the FBiH Government, then headed by Nedžad Branković, announced that by the end of that month, through the Joint Services Office, it would publish a tender for the adaptation of space in the Sarajevo Elektroprivreda BiH. It was then said that by 2010, this building should become the seat of the executive authority of the larger BiH entity.

Because of this, seven years ago, the Law on Enterprise Privatization was amended to allow the Government to exempt part of the assets of a majority state-owned company for its own needs. All of this was done. The building was renovated, shining in full glory, but the Government did not move from Alipašina Street.

Given that a huge amount of money was spent at that time, the premises in EPBiH were renovated, and the Government remained a tenant, it is logical to ask whether the goal of the current executive authority, led by Fadil Novalić, is really to move into the General Hospital building (if Sebija Izetbegović manages to shut it down) or yet another renovation with citizens' money, for who knows whose needs.

If the goal is really savings, as loudly proclaimed by the Government, why not move into the already renovated EPBiH premises, or use the buildings of Energoinvest or Hidrogradnja, where the state is the majority owner? And the law was amended seven years ago precisely for the purpose of disposing of that property. Either way, there is definitely something fishy going on here.
