Flag of the ARBiH was a poor response to the VSTV scandal

It was ridiculous to follow the media who, at all costs and without any taste, tried to discredit the citizens' protests against the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH in Sarajevo. The protests followed as a response to the fact that the president of the umbrella judicial institution in BiH, Milan Tegeltija, found himself at the center of a corruption scandal, the largest and most direct since the end of the war. 

ATV reported dramatically: „PDP MP Draško Stanivuković said he wants to build BiH.“
RTRS warned: „Unannounced protests in front of the VSTV building“.
Avaz: „Mektić joined a small number of protesters“. It seems simply unbelievable to engage in manipulation of the number of protesters in the era of social networks.

Even if we know that the citizens came before the judiciary at the invitation of the state Minister of Security Dragan Mektić, each of those people, even without Mektić's invitation, had at least one strong reason to be at that place at that time, like Muriz Memić from Sarajevo who, due to failures in the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office, has been unable for three years to find out who killed his 22-year-old son, or Davor Dragičević from Banja Luka who unsuccessfully seeks justice for his murdered 21-year-old son David, or a businessman from Velika Kladuša whose local SDA thugs are hindering the development of a super successful company built with his own funds, from which the state collects taxes even though it has not invested a single mark in it. Not supporting their struggle is undermining the fundamental values of democracy. 

Then things suddenly changed. Members of „Bosanska čast“ raised the flag of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and there was no longer any doubt which path Dodik's media should take. There is nothing easier than demonizing a Serb from the opposition next to the flag of the ARBiH. 

RTRS screamed: „War flag at the protests.“ 
ATV jumped on that bait: „Protests in front of the VSTV, with Mektić and war flags of the so-called BiH Army VIDEO.“ 

If something truly should not have been at the protests against corrupt judiciary in Bosnia and Herzegovina, then it should not have been the flag of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. More than two decades after the horrors of war, war flags, trophies, and various war paraphernalia belong in museums, in history textbooks, or at best at commemorations of war anniversaries, but not at protests against corruption in the Bosnian judiciary. It would have made sense only if the patriots from „Bosanska čast“ had appeared with, say, the flag of the European Union instead of the flag of the ARBiH. Because, even if it contributed during the war to preserving Bosnia and Herzegovina's multicultural fabric as best it could, at protests against corruption in the judiciary, that flag dealt a blow to the state from behind.

The fundamental rule for societies striving to modernize and improve is that they should look to the future. Therefore, the best response to corruption in BiH's judiciary, or to Dodik's call for the Third Regiment of the former Army of Republika Srpska to put on war uniforms, can by no means be putting on the uniform of the ARBiH, but rather, on the contrary, putting on business suits, rolling up engineering sleeves, or, for example, putting on farmer's overalls.

The charade that unfolded with the flag of the ARBiH at Mektić's protests is the most ordinary foolishness and an acceptance of the game of populists, such as Dodik, which inevitably leads citizens to new suffering.
