House of Representatives of PS BiH convenes: Krišto withdraws proposal to appoint Selak as Minister of Security

(Patria) - Two sessions of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina were announced for today in Sarajevo.

The first is an urgent session, scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM, with the confirmation of Goran Selak's appointment as Minister of Security of BiH on its agenda.

The formal title of the item is Confirmation of the Decision on Amending the Decision on Appointing Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and Deputy Chairpersons of the Council of Ministers of BiH, submitted by the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Borjana Krišto.

Krišto made a decision appointing Goran Selak as the new Minister of Security of BiH, replacing Nenad Nešić. The decision needs to be confirmed by the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

"The reason for adopting this decision is the appointment of a new Minister of Security in the Council of Ministers of BiH due to the dismissal of Nenad Nešić from the position of Minister of Security in the Council of Ministers of BiH at his personal request," it is stated in the decision.

Selak passed the prescribed checks conducted by the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) and the Central Election Commission (CEC) of BiH.

The position of Minister of Security of BiH became vacant after the arrested Nenad Nešić resigned. Since then, the Deputy Minister of Security, Ivica Bošnjak (HDZ BiH), has been performing this function.

However, yesterday afternoon, both the SPS and Selak himself announced that he publicly requested Krišto to withdraw his appointment. This means that from today, space will be open for Krišto to propose a new name for the Minister of Security of BiH.

The second session is a continuation of yesterday's regular session, which will follow after the urgent session concludes. As a reminder, yesterday's session was interrupted during the discussion of the Proposal for a Resolution condemning the attacks by the authorities of the entity of Republika Srpska on the constitutional order of BiH.

The proposers of the resolution - representatives Šerif Špago, Edin Ramić, Safet Kešo, Midhat Čaušević, Nermin Mandra, Denijal Tulumović, Amor Mašović, Šemsudin Dedić, Milan Dunović, Vlatko Glavaš, and Zlatan Begić called for decisive action by the competent institutions to protect the constitutional order, preserve peace, and respect the Dayton Peace Agreement.

The House previously adopted a request for the Proposal for a Law on Amendments to the Law on Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina, submitted by the Committee on Combating Corruption of the House of Representatives of the PSBiH, to be considered under an urgent procedure.

A request was also adopted for the Proposal for a Law on Amendments to the Law on Salaries and Allowances in the Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, submitted by the Chairperson of the NiP Caucus Nihad Omerović, the Chairperson of the SDP BiH Caucus Saša Magazinović, the Chairperson of the NS - BHI KF Caucus Sabina Ćudić, and the Chairperson of the Mixed Caucus of Representatives Jasmin Emrić, to be considered under an urgent legislative procedure.
