Employees of General Hospital Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš worried about their fate

When Sebija Izetbegović was appointed director of the General Hospital "Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš" in March 2013, the first to feel her iron-fisted policy were the employees of this healthcare institution, writes the BH news agency Patria.

Today, employees, after two and a half years of her rule, use the word terror.

Namely, the Patria agency received a reaction from some employees who are wondering what will happen to this hospital if the director's wishes to merge it with the UKCS are fulfilled, which is being talked about more and more loudly.

- When she moved from the Jezero Clinic, she brought loyal people with her, even her own lawyer and cleaner. The workers were in shock, and then the terror began. She terminated contracts as she pleased, transferred people from one department to another. Although she is aware that there are not enough staff and that everyone is exhausted, she did not want to hire necessary workers – this is only part of what employees resent Izetbegović for.

A special story, as they say, is the attitude towards what Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš, a surgeon and humanist who did the impossible for the hospital to provide excellent care to the wounded during the aggression, did for the General Hospital. We remind you that at the initiative of citizens and associations, this hospital was named JU General Hospital "Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš" in 2006.

Already in February 2014, by her order, photographs that bore witness to the horrors that besieged Sarajevo and the hospital itself went through were removed from the hospital walls.

As disappointed employees say, out of fear of retaliation, they did not dare to attend even the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the death of Dr. Nakaš, which was held within the hospital grounds in front of the memorial.

- Just look, she even ordered the water supply to the fountain, opened in May 2008 in honor of our Abdulah Nakaš, to be cut off. It was sad to see that yesterday there were no employees at the anniversary commemoration. What kind of person is she who wants to erase everything that Dr. Nakaš did for this hospital and this city – the employees wonder.

Furthermore, they were not allowed to participate in the warning strike of healthcare workers held on October 26, 2015, fearing Director Izetbegović, who often shouts at employees in the middle of the hallway and even insults them.

They further state that Director Izetbegović leased certain parts of the hospital to private individuals, so a private polyclinic, an optical shop, etc., are located within the hospital.

- It is heard more and more loudly that she will close four departments. When she wanted to close the Department of Internal Medicine, the head of that department, Dr. Dragan Stevanović, prevented it. The 9th floor has already been closed. And when we hear that she wants the position of director of UKCS, we wonder what will happen to us. She has people close to her whom she will take with her.

The first link in the chain of appointing Izetbegović to the head of UKCS is the appointment of a suitable Supervisory Board of UKCS, which includes her acquaintances and friends, who were tasked with dismissing the current director Rusmir Mesihović.

We remind you that if this idea is realized, the plan is to merge the General Hospital with UKCS, and that the Government of FBiH will move into the existing building, which is shocking.
