Activities for Online Corruption Reporting Launched

Minister of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton Nermin Pećanac received the Secretary General of the Center for Security Studies (CSS) Denis Hadžović and the Executive Director of the Initiative for Combating Crime and Resocialization (CSRI) Alma Kovačević, for a meeting regarding the implementation of activities for building an online application for reporting corruption via the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, in cooperation with CSS and CSRI, has begun building this application, which will allow citizens to report corrupt activities through an online form and check the status of their report.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs, led by Minister Nermin Pećanac and Police Commissioner Vahid Ćosić, is the first Ministry of Internal Affairs in FBiH to launch an initiative to implement project activities offering this method of reporting corruption. The construction of the online application for reporting corruption is being carried out within the framework of the project "Mapping Corruption Risks in the Security Sector," financially supported by the Delegation of the European Union to BiH, which began in December 2013.

The project aims to produce an analysis, explanation, and public presentation of a map of key corruption risks in police, military, and security agencies in BiH. This is a continuation of activities that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton began back in 2007, when the Strategy for Combating Corruption was adopted, and an Operational Team for Combating Corruption was formed in the same year.
