Observations: "Sarajevo Meeting of Cultures" information board full of errors

The information board near the "Sarajevo Meeting of Cultures" sign in Sarajevo's main promenade, Ferhadija, was supposed to provide additional information for tourists and curious individuals who want to learn more about it. However, Muhamed Mešić, a legal expert and connoisseur of over 70 languages, shared his observations about this board, or rather about what and how it is written on it, on the social network Facebook. In recent years, he has worked in 24 countries around the world on four continents.

- Another proof of what terrible amateurs we are when it comes to promoting ourselves and how the principle of 'let's just do it' prevails here: Arabic and Hebrew letters are upside down, Arabic is still unconnected, no spacing whatsoever. In Turkish, the noun is missing after 'buluştuğu'. In English, it's a bit 'of cultures', a bit 'of culture'. True, it's not rocket science to make such a panel. But it's a shame (and a blunder) to realize a fundamentally beautiful idea... 'just because' - wrote Mešić, explaining that the order of letters in Arabic and Hebrew is reversed because they are written from left to right, instead of right to left.

This photograph caused numerous comments, and Mešić wrote in one of them that it's possible it was a printing error, but he wonders how no one checked it before putting up the panel.

We remind you that the "Sarajevo Meeting of Cultures" sign was installed at the end of March, and it is the name of the project of the non-governmental organization of the same name, which strives to promote the tourist potentials of Sarajevo and the meeting of different cultures in our city. The installed sign represents the starting tourist point for exploring Sarajevo, i.e., a location that presents a historical and cultural description of Sarajevo in one place and marks a space of peace, coexistence, and tolerance, writes Patria.
