Deputy Minister of Defence Receives Political-Military Advisor of the US Embassy in BiH Cary Giardini

Deputy Minister of Defence of BiH Sead Jusić received in a visit the political-military advisor of the US Embassy in BiH Cary Giardini, and the US military attaché in BiH Brigadier Mark Karas, with whom he discussed bilateral defence cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States of America.

The discussion covered the current situation, challenges and perspectives of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of BiH, and opinions and information were exchanged on past and future cooperation through the IMET military education and training programs, the Mil to Mil program, cooperation with the Maryland National Guard, and other forms of bilateral defence cooperation between the two countries.

Deputy Minister Jusić wished Giardini success in his future work as political-military advisor to the US Ambassador to BiH Maureen E. Cormack and expressed expectation for continued support provided to defence institutions by the US Embassy in BiH.

Also discussed were the challenges faced by the Ministry of Defence of BiH through the public procurement system and the implementation of the 2016 budget, the participation of members of the Armed Forces of BiH in peace support missions, and the continuation of work on the document "Defence Review".

In that context, Deputy Minister Jusić informed Giardini that the Steering Team had adopted a framework plan of activities for drafting the document "Defence Review", based on which work will be carried out in the coming period, in order to complete this strategic document by 30 November, as specified in the Conclusions of the Presidency of BiH.
