Replacement of broken slabs in Ferhadija, Jelića and Trg oslobođenja - Alija Izetbegović streets

The replacement of broken slabs is underway in Ferhadija, Jelića and Trg oslobođenja-Alija Izetbegović streets. These are damages caused by winter conditions and slabs that have cracked or fallen out of their bedding, Patria reports.

The part of Ferhadija Street where routine maintenance is being carried out is from Apoteka Sarajevo (near the Cathedral) to Slatki ćošak. This section of the street was reconstructed in the post-war period, but the quality of the workmanship and material is quite poor, and slabs often crack during the winter. For this reason, annual routine maintenance is carried out to restore the street to its original condition.

Currently, slabs are being replaced near the pastry shop “Egipat”. After the completion of works in Ferhadija, work will continue in Jelića Street, and then on Trg oslobođenja-Alija Izetbegović.

The part of Ferhadija from the City Market to Apoteka Sarajevo was reconstructed in 2012 and 2013. In that section, all underground installations were replaced, a ten-centimeter thick reinforced concrete base was poured, and eight-centimeter thick granite slabs were laid on top. The project cost around 890,000 KM, and there has never been a need to replace slabs in this part of the street.
