Paris Court of Appeal to Decide on Extradition of Šušnjar to BiH on 19 November

France has been requested to extradite Radomir Šušnjar, suspected of crimes against humanity committed in BiH, and the decision of the Paris Court of Appeal is expected on 19 November, according to the association „Woman-Victim of War“, reports the Patria news agency.

- In line with its programmatic goals of fighting impunity, in 2010 it informed the BiH Prosecutor's Office that Radomir Šušnjar, also known as Lalco, was hiding in France. In April 2014, Šušnjar, a former member of the Bosnian Serb army, was arrested in France. Radomir, together with Milan and Sredoje Lukić, participated in the horrific crime known publicly as the „living bonfire“, during which, on 14 June 1992, more than 70 Muslim civilians, including women who had previously been raped and children, were locked in a house on Pionirska Street in Višegrad. The youngest victim was a two-day-old baby who had not even been given a name. They were tortured and finally burned alive. Eight people managed to escape. Two survivors of the monstrous crime have since died – say the association.

For this crime, the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia sentenced Milan and Sredoje Lukić for persecution on political, racial and religious grounds, inhumane acts and extermination, as well as murder and cruel torture. In December 2012, Milan Lukić was sentenced to life imprisonment, and Sredoje Lukić to 27 years in prison.

Incidentally, Bakira Hasečić, a representative of the association „Women-Victims of War“, has travelled to Paris and will await the decision of the French court there. She is accompanied by Huso Kurspahić, whose mother, two sisters, a sister's child and numerous other relatives were burned alive in Pionirska Street.
