UDT appeals rejection of lawsuit against Dalida Burzić

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Late last week, the First Instance Disciplinary Commission of the HJPC rejected the lawsuit filed by the Disciplinary Prosecutor's Office (UDT) against Dalida Burzić, a judge of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the lawsuit related to the period when she served as Chief Cantonal Prosecutor. 

As reported by Detektor, the UDT has filed an appeal against the decision of the First Instance Disciplinary Commission of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) which rejected the lawsuit against Dalida Burzić for improper conduct during her tenure as Chief Prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office in Sarajevo.

The HJPC confirmed for the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BIRN BiH) that the Disciplinary Prosecutor's Office filed the appeal on February 26 against the decision of the First Instance Disciplinary Commission to reject the disciplinary lawsuit against Burzić.

In the closing remarks made in January of this year, the disciplinary prosecutor requested that appropriate measures be imposed on Dalida Burzić for improper conduct during her time as Chief Prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office in Sarajevo, while the Defense argued that the claims in the lawsuit were not proven at all.

According to the lawsuit rejected by the First Instance Disciplinary Commission, presided over by Željka Radović, Burzić illegally requested the prosecution of two politicians – Semir Efendić and Elmedin Konaković. 

Patria reminds that the UDT initiated another proceeding against Burzić due to inappropriate contact with the father of the murdered young man Dženan Memić, Muriz Memić, and for making statements about the case while it was ongoing. At the same time as the disciplinary proceeding was underway, the appointment of Burzić as a judge of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina was being prepared. That disciplinary proceeding also concluded positively for Burzić, and she was immediately appointed as a judge in February 2019.
