Law to Define Proper Display of BiH Flag

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - A Bill on Amendments to the Law on the BiH Flag, concerning the proper display of state symbols, is in process. After technical issues were resolved, which were pointed out by SBB deputies, the law could be adopted on June 20 at the session of the House of Representatives of the PSBiH.

The proposer of these amendments is SDP deputy in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, Saša Magazinović. He stated that the intention of the law is to technically clarify and finally write down in one place how the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina is correctly displayed. Magazinović believes that most people who display the flag incorrectly do so out of ignorance, not disrespect for the state of BiH.

He noted that, together with representatives of the Association of Citizens Bosona and the Heraldry Society of BiH, they have drafted a law that resolves the issues of flag usage "that appear today". He expressed hope that there will be no problem in adopting these technical changes, especially since they are based on expert opinion, not on someone's arbitrary opinion.

According to him, if fines were imposed for incorrectly displayed flags, "we would collect more money than we will collect from excise taxes, because it is difficult to find a correctly displayed flag".

- The Bill on Amendments to the Law on the BiH Flag is quite simple, but extremely precise. We are adding a provision that states that the BiH flag is generally displayed and used in its normal horizontal position, which means that the white stars are closer to the flagpole, and the flagpole is always on the left side. The second provision states that the state flag can also be displayed vertically, and it is moved from the normal horizontal position to the vertical position by rotation from left to right in the direction of the clock's hands - explained Magazinović, reports the Patria agency.
