Law on Prevention of Money Laundering Not on the Agenda of the House of Peoples of the BiH PA: We Risk Being on MONEYVAL's Grey List

(Patria) - The Law on Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorist Activities, adopted by the House of Representatives of the BiH PA on December 21, was not on the agenda of the House of Peoples of the BiH PA today.

Delegate Šefik Džaferović (SDA) stated that BiH risks being placed on MONEYVAL's grey list due to the non-adoption of this law.

"Is anyone considering that BiH might be returned to MONEYVAL's grey list because of this? I had hoped that after the European Commission session, and before the European Council session, BiH would do something, and we would finally get a date for negotiations at the last session. Nothing has been done. We are threatened with a return to the grey list because of this law. You cannot reach an agreement to at least have this law. I know what was discussed in the collegium, they are talking about objections from the legislative-legal sector, which are not mandatory. The law can be adopted and then corrected later. Why is it being postponed? I think there is a kind of strategy behind this by certain coalition members, in this case, the one preventing this law from being on the agenda today," said Džaferović.

Delegate Zlatko Miletić stated that he is unaware of why this law is not on today's session agenda.

"We are at a stage where one house adopts a law, and it is not on the agenda of the House of Peoples. If there is no possibility to put it on the agenda, then tell us what the reason is for it not being on the agenda," said Miletić.

The Chairperson of the House of Peoples of the BiH PA, Kemal Ademović, stated that what the Collegium agrees upon is on the agenda, and that no one submitted a proposal to supplement the agenda today.
