Law on Civil Service of FBiH: Serb Club Raises Issue of Vital National Interest Protection

The Club of the Serb People in the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament will initiate the issue of vital national interest protection due to the Proposal for Amendments to the Law on Civil Service in FBiH, which was adopted today in the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament, writes the Patria News Agency.

The Club invoked the protection of vital national interest due to the open possibility that no Serb might be elected to positions in the civil service covered by the new government amendments and additions to the Law on Civil Service of BiH.

The Constitutional Court of FBiH will decide whether the vital national interest of Serbs is endangered by the adoption of amendments to the Law on Civil Service in FBiH.

The House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament adopted the Bill on Amendments to the Law on Civil Service in FBiH, proposed by the BiH Government, late Friday afternoon.

The opposition proposed about 40 amendments to the government's amendments to the Law on Civil Service, but the government did not accept any of the proposed amendments.

The non-governmental sector, as well as foreign organizations in our country, have previously warned that more parties need to be involved in the adoption of this law in FBiH, not just the FBiH Government.

They warned that if the Bill on Amendments to the Law on Civil Service in FBiH is adopted as proposed by the FBiH Government, it would mean that parties in the Federation would completely control institutions in the Federation.

Amendments to the Law on Civil Service in FBiH were supported by representatives of SDA, HDZ, SBB, A-SDA, and BPS. MPs from DF, SDP, HDZ 1990, and Dennis Gratz from Our Party opposed these amendments to the Law, writes NAP.
