Conclusions of the Government of Sarajevo Canton on the ordered measures related to the tragic death of a student

After the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth and the Ministry of Interior submitted to the Government of Sarajevo Canton information on the activities undertaken regarding the tragic event of the suicide of student Mahir Rakovac and the investigative actions being conducted in connection with it, the Government of Sarajevo Canton adopted the following conclusions, which the Patria agency transmits in full:

1.  The Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton and the Administration for Inspection Affairs are ordered to continue with inspections of the International Primary School in Sarajevo, and to carry out enhanced inspection supervision in other private primary and secondary schools, as well as in public schools founded by the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton.

2. The Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton, in the amendments to the Law on Primary and Secondary Education, which are underway, should pay additional attention to possible corrections of parts of the law for the purpose of better regulating the flow of information and communication within the educational process in schools.

3. The Ministry of Justice and Administration and the Ministry of Labour, Social Policy, Refugees and Displaced Persons of Sarajevo Canton are ordered to, after conducting a professional analysis of the existing situation, propose possible improvements to the Law on the Protection and Treatment of Children and Minors in Criminal Proceedings who are in conflict with the law, which the Government of Sarajevo Canton will forward to the Government of the Federation for further action.

4.  From all actors and holders of activities of the Action Plan for the Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency and Work with Minors in Conflict with the Law 2014-2016, the Government requests a report on the implemented measures and activities provided for by this Plan, and that this Report be submitted to it via the Ministry of Justice and Administration within seven days.

5. The Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton and the Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton are expected to continue the initiated actions related to the investigation and circumstances of the suicide of student Mahir Rakovac, maintaining an objective and professional approach to the investigation and its participants.
