Conclusions of the first international conference ‘Justice for David and all children of BiH’

(Patria) - The first international conference "Justice for David and all children of BiH" was held in the VHS Ottakring conference hall in Vienna.

"Civic activism in the service of promoting the importance and establishment of the real rule of law in BiH" was the theme of the international conference organized by the association "Justice for David and all children of BiH" from Vienna.

The goal of the conference, as announced by the Association, was to insist on the criminal responsibility of all those who, by action or inaction, led to the obstruction of the investigation into the murder of David Dragičević.

Conference participants had the opportunity to learn about the chronology of the "Dragičević" case with a focus on the controversial press conference, information about the Inquiry Committee, the activities of the police and the Prosecutor's Office, the ways in which protests were conducted in Banja Luka, and the way institutions reacted.

Conference participant Martin Pammer, as well as other participants of the second panel discussion, jointly emphasized that ethnopolitics, politics of fear, politics of instrumentalizing ethnic identities, covering up crimes, theft, corruption, malversation, and nepotism has become something that defines BiH. The politics of lies has become the parade of today's BiH and is still active today.

Martin Pammer, former Austrian Ambassador to BiH, described the helplessness of the international community on this issue, "the helplessness of those who can perhaps initiate certain sanctions in order to sanction such behavior of those who represent us."

Professor Vedran Dzihić stated that "something that appears as a lie cannot overcome the truth in the long run; a lie can build an institution around itself, a lie can arm itself, a lie can use police force, but it cannot exist in the long term."

"Almost no regime in human history that has been built on policies of lies in the long term has survived," Džihanić emphasized in conclusion.

"The 'Dragičević' case and the first long-term, civic, non-political 'Justice for David' protests are something universal and cannot be expelled from BiH in any way, just as the family of David Dragičević was expelled. The peaceful protest gatherings of the 'Justice for David' movement arose from the common need of the citizens of BiH for justice, which is not an everyday occurrence. The symbol of civic protests, the raised fist, is a universal symbol of resistance, which also marked these protests," it was stated at the conference in Vienna.

It was also emphasized that the long-term, civic, non-political protests "Justice for David" have taken on global proportions, "so we had protests as a reflection of common solidarity and mutual understanding in numerous cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with peaceful, civic gatherings repeated several times in some cities." Likewise, protest gatherings were organized in numerous cities of the European Union and the world.

"This solidarity can continue through joint activities."

Members of the family of the murdered Dženan Memić from Sarajevo were also supposed to attend the conference, but due to an urgent summons to the Prosecutor's Office, which they received two days prior, they were prevented from attending the conference.
