Belated Request for Mektić's Dismissal: BiH Parliament as a Political Ring for SNSD and SDS

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Members of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina are expected to vote tomorrow on the dismissal of BiH Security Minister Dragan Mektić. The request for dismissal was submitted by parliamentarians from the ranks of SNSD and DNS: Staša Košarac, Lazar Prodanović, Dušanka Majkić, Nikola Špirić, Milica Marković, Miroslav Milovanović, Borislav Bojić, Đorđo Krčmar, and Jovan Vukovljak.

In the initiative that was submitted, they point out that BiH has been facing a serious migrant crisis since the beginning of 2018, which is becoming an increasing threat to political stability every day. 

It is interesting that the initiators of this dismissal waited until the very last session of this mandate, a month before the General Elections. The migrant crisis has been ongoing since January 2018, with sporadic cases recorded even earlier. So, tomorrow we can again expect a political ring between SDS and SNSD at the session of the BiH Parliament. 

I believe that Borislav Bojić, until recently a member of SDS, will be a strong advocate for Mektić's dismissal, which certainly at this time would not benefit anyone, especially the state of BiH. The General Elections are in a month, all ministers are effectively in a technical mandate, and now they want to dismiss them.

From SNSD, they claim that the Ministry of Security of BiH is responsible for the escalation of the migrant problem, especially Minister Dragan Mektić, who, as they state, several times ignored, minimized, and even mocked serious warnings from institutions.

- There is very serious information that individuals from BiH institutions, especially from the Ministry of Security, in cooperation with international humanitarian organizations, were involved in producing the migrant crisis in BiH with the aim of gaining material benefit through the use of EU funds and donor funds intended for assistance in accommodation, food, and health care for migrants - stated in the explanation of the proposal from the SNSD and DNS clubs.

They did not specify whether they forwarded their findings to the competent investigative bodies, but it is likely that tomorrow we will hear everything that should and should not be said in the Parliament hall. For now, there is no majority for Mektić's dismissal. 

Many representatives are aware that tomorrow's session will serve as a prelude to the pre-election campaign, which, to be honest, has already been unofficially ongoing for some time, and officially begins on September 7.

- I think it would be better if the PSBiH does not convene until the elections and we don't listen to ourselves for nothing. Bosnia would be peaceful, and there would be more money. We could give it to the migrants – previously said NB representative Sadik Ahmetović. 

- I propose that we make a decision not to convene until October and thus help the citizens of BiH. Let's stop embarrassing ourselves – Ahmetović was sincere.

However, not everyone shares this opinion, so belated requests for dismissals of ministers are on the agenda! 

Minister Mektić did not remain silent either, stating that „he will not comment on the statement of Staša Košarac, who has been ranting about everything and anything these days."
