(Patria) - In recognition of his exceptional contribution to media work and the promotion of human rights and freedoms of returnees through the show "Mjesto povratka" (Place of Return) on Hayat Television, the Municipality of Kakanj awarded a letter of gratitude to journalist Emerin Ahmetašević.
Ahmetašević, one of the recipients of the April 15th Awards of the Municipality of Kakanj, highlighted his long-standing journalistic experience and the importance of recognizing the work of journalists and activists who advocate for citizens' rights.
It All Started in His Native Kakanj
In an interview with the portal Hayat.ba, Ahmetašević commented on the award for his work.
- I started my journalistic journey in Kakanj exactly 20 years ago. I remember going to Kakanjske novine, and I just wanted to work, regardless of whether I would be paid for it. I was 17 years old.
I worked in Kakanj as a journalist in various ways and in different media. It seems that it has left a mark, and I am very glad that it has been recognized, coincidentally or not, precisely on the twentieth anniversary of my work in journalism.
I am extremely happy because Kakanj shows that it cares about its citizens, regardless of where they are located - emphasizes Ahmetašević.
Despite his professional engagement in Sarajevo, he also highlighted his closeness to the municipality of Kakanj and the importance of maintaining connections.
- Through my work in Sarajevo, I always tried to contribute to Kakanj through any, and mostly a positive approach towards events in my hometown.
Although I have been in Sarajevo for over 10 years, all these years I have been in contact with the Municipality, businessmen, and society, on how and in what way to present what is good and what Kakanj needs - adds Ahmetašević.
When asked about the significance of Kakanj for him and his local patriotism through his work, he emphasized his attachment to his hometown.
- I am truly a local patriot. Everything I could do privately here, I try to do in Kakanj. My fellow citizens of Kakanj know that.
"Mjesto povratka"
I couldn't engage in this field at a high level in Kakanj, but I decided to contribute as much as possible from a higher instance.
On several occasions, I have been a link for cooperation between the Municipality and businessmen with Hayat TV, the largest private television station in BiH. It always resulted in successful cooperation.
However, I must emphasize that none of this would have been possible without the great support and trust I received at Hayat TV. I cherish that trust, improve it, and experience it as our shared successes. This only shows how much Hayat provides opportunities for us to be the best versions of ourselves - he states.
On the topic of his show "Mjesto povratka" and the book of the same name, Ahmetašević shared his impressions.
- All good things in life happen either through work or by chance. I knew that the show "Mjesto povratka" would be noticed, but not to this extent, to be honest. From that show, as a product, quite spontaneously and by chance, the book of the same name was created.
The first edition has long been sold out, even though I had almost no expectations. The book was written solely as a legacy of what I do. In the end, it turned out to be much more.
I already have approval to continue writing, and it is likely that in the coming period, about ten new stories from returnee settlements will be published. God willing, with health and time - stated Ahmetašević.
The April 15th Awards of the Municipality of Kakanj represent an important step in recognizing and rewarding the outstanding contributions of individuals in various spheres of society.
Emerin Ahmetašević is one such example, demonstrating through his continuous work and engagement the importance of journalism in promoting human rights and freedoms and leaving a lasting mark on the community.
