Thanks to Dževad Bećirević, former fighter Sabrija Adimi no longer sleeps on the street

After the media published information about Sabrija Adimi, a homeless man who has lived on the streets of Sarajevo for 21 years, the head of the Centar municipality Dževad Bećirević decided to help. Head Bećirević today, after meeting with Sabrija, issued an order to find accommodation for this former member of the Army of BiH so that he would no longer sleep on the street and in dilapidated buildings, reports the Patria news agency. 

- The municipal head immediately reacted to the news in the media and called on employees of the Department for Labor, Health and Social Affairs to get in touch with Sabrija. After they found Sabrija, the head hosted him and immediately issued an order to help him. The department found a suitable housing unit in the area of the local community ''Pionirska dolina-Nahorevo'' and it was agreed with the owner of the property that the municipality would cover the rent until the end of the year. After that, Sabrija was placed in his new home - said the assistant head for labor, health and social affairs, Osmo Babić.

Emphasizing that the Centar municipality had not reacted earlier because Sabrija's address is not registered in the Centar municipality, but in Stari Grad.

- If we had had him on the records of the Centar municipality, we would have helped much earlier - Babić emphasized.

After moving into his new home, Sabrija thanked Head Bećirević.

– I still can't believe that someone helped me after so many years. This is the happiest day of my life and I have no other words but thank you to Head Bećirević and the Centar municipality. I will never forget this. It is a great thing when, after more than two decades, you don't spend the night under the open sky and when you know that you will be warm regardless of whether it rains or snows - said Sabrija.
