Zahiragić: Konaković's departure is a vital national interest

Written by: Haris Zahiragić, Vice President of SDA

Of course, one should not vote for Konaković's dismissal, that is, not for the reasons cited by SNSD in their initiative. But...

Exactly one year ago, Konaković said that January 9 is a trivial matter, and equated that day with March 1 - Independence Day; for that reason alone, perhaps his dismissal should be supported.

He should also be dismissed for abusing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina to protect individuals suspected of collaborating with drug cartels, and for his ties to drug cartels, as we have read in Sky communications, as well as in relevant domestic, regional, and European media.

Perhaps he should also be dismissed for the scandalous debacle regarding the (non)organization of the Western Balkans Summit.

Why not also because, on HRT, when directly asked by a journalist, he dared not state the established fact that Croatia committed aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina?

Or because, due to that and general servility, he became the "good European boy" - as the radical Željana Zovko fondly calls him.

And why not cite as a reason that, as Foreign Minister, he voted to allocate 100 million KM to Dodik's godfather for the purchase of a building, thus setting a precedent that decisions in the Council of Ministers can be adopted without the vote of the deputy from the Bosniak people?

Perhaps the best reason for his dismissal is that he has, at the very least, questionable education and is fundamentally incompetent to hold this important and responsible position.

And so on...

If, however, we were to look for reasons in his political activities as president of NIP, we would find countless reasons for his dismissal.

So, if you ask me, given that it all started with the fictitious "fixed calf" in ZOI, perhaps it is only fair that it should all end with a "fixed" Konaković removed from the position of Foreign Minister.

Especially because, for the sake of that position, he was ready to trample everything in his path, including top-tier national interests.

So let him go to Laktaši to watch Igokea, or to Dodik's private estate to agree on disastrous decisions, unburdened by the position of Foreign Minister.

Some are asking whether Konaković's position is a national interest of Bosniaks? I have been asking myself that for a few days. And I realized that it is.

Precisely, Konaković's departure from this important position is a vital national interest. Not only of Bosniaks, but of all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
