Zagreb residents demand Mayor Bandić's resignation

ZAGREB, (Patria) - While election silence is in effect ahead of the presidential elections in Croatia, Zagreb residents gathered for another protest against Mayor Milan Bandić on Ban Jelačić Square. Citizens are carrying banners with messages addressed to Bandić, shouting "Thieves, thieves", "Mafia go home".

The first gathering was organized two weeks ago, before the first round of the presidential elections. Demonstrators are not satisfied with how Milan Bandić is managing Zagreb and are demanding his resignation. The reason for expressing dissatisfaction is also the new waste disposal regulation, which increases the bills for this service, despite the fact that Zagreb residents have started sorting waste.

Citizens resent that Zagreb has become a very expensive place to live, and they claim that Bandić does not know how to spend the City of Zagreb's budget of one and a half billion euros.

When asked by journalists how he commented on the protests and the demand for his resignation, Bandić responded to everything with one word: "Democracy."
