Pollution: Parent Council of Primary and Secondary Schools in Sarajevo Canton on Suspension of Classes

The Parent Council of primary and secondary school students in Sarajevo Canton addressed a letter to Prime Minister Elmedin Konaković and the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton expressing concern about the air quality in Sarajevo Canton, Patria reports.

-After consultations with municipal coordinators and presidents of school Parent Councils, and taking into account that precipitation is forecast for tomorrow, which will certainly contribute to improving air quality, and bearing in mind that there are four days left until the end of the school year, we propose the following:

- That classes in primary and secondary schools in Sarajevo Canton not be suspended

- That the duration of classes in schools be adjusted so that the second shift ends by 5 PM, given that the highest air pollution occurs in the evening hours

- That extracurricular activities in schools be suspended

- That children with health issues be allowed to be absent from classes

At the same time, we appeal to those responsible to take long-term measures to improve air quality in our city, the Parent Council's letter states.
