Zaev: If the referendum fails, I will resign

SKOPJE, (Patria) - Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said he will resign if the referendum on the agreement with Greece over the name is not successful.

Zaev added that he is confident the referendum will pass nonetheless.

- Macedonia has no Plan B. Nearly 80 percent of citizens want membership in the European Union and NATO. I am confident that citizens will make that decision at the referendum - Zaev stated.

According to him, the support of EU and NATO member states is very important for Macedonia, and he emphasized that he has no doubt they will send an encouraging message.

- Macedonia has achieved not only a success but also a model of how to resolve a 30-year dispute - Zaev added.

Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev recently reached an agreement with his Greek counterpart Alexis Tsipras, under which the Republic of Macedonia will henceforth have the official name Republic of North Macedonia.
