"Ban on doctors' strike in Mostar is a denial of basic human rights"

MOSTAR, (Patria) - The judge of the Municipal Court in Mostar either did not examine the case sufficiently, or made an illogical decision under political pressure, according to the Professional Union of Doctors of Medicine and Dentistry of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, whose approximately 600 members are on strike.

The Municipal Court in Mostar assessed that the strike of doctors and dentists in the HNC is not in accordance with the Labor Law and the Law on Strikes, after which the strike was frozen.

The President of the Union, Kristina Bevanda, told the Patria agency that doctors in this canton are being denied the basic human right to peacefully express dissatisfaction, but that the Union will not give up on its intentions.

The Union is demanding salary increases for doctors in this canton.

Unlike doctors and dentists, other medical staff from the HNC are not on strike, NAP reports.
