Sunday work ban in Novi Travnik not welcomed by everyone

SARAJevo, (Patria) - A Public Debate on the Draft Decision on Sunday working hours for retail outlets, catering facilities and crafts in the area of the Municipality of Novi Travnik was held today in the Grand Hall of the Municipality of Novi Travnik.

A small number of citizens attended the public debate, which should mean that a large part of Novi Travnik residents support the decision on adjusted Sunday working hours. Of course, this Draft Decision primarily aims to protect workers and allow them free time to spend resting with their families.

It is important to emphasize that there were also those at the public debate to whom this decision is not acceptable, and understandably, these are the owners of certain retail outlets who generate the largest income precisely on Sundays.

First and foremost, these include night clubs, bakeries operating 24/7, sports betting shops, and numerous others. As they point out, they are dissatisfied because ceasing work on Sundays or restricting it would mean a reduction in earnings, which would naturally affect the ability to pay workers, and potentially lead to the dismissal of dozens of workers.

However, there are exceptions, such as the retail chain "BEST", which supported the initiative from the very beginning and stood up for the protection of its workers, and this is a chain that perhaps has the most retail outlets in the Novi Travnik area.
