FOR SEVEN DAYS, THE SERVICE FOR FOREIGNERS AFFAIRS OF BiH DEPORTED 101 FOREIGNERS

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - In accordance with its competences, the Service for Foreigners Affairs is implementing intensified control activities of movement and stay of foreigners, focused on controlling places where migrants gather, and inspection supervision over legal and natural persons providing accommodation services.

Inspectors for foreigners, in cooperation with police officers, conducted joint activities in the areas of Sarajevo, Bihać, Zenica, Travnik, Tuzla, Kalesija, and Banja Luka. These activities resulted in the finding of foreign nationals who had illegally entered or illegally stayed in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Service for Foreigners Affairs issued a deportation measure for 101 foreign nationals with a ban on entry and stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina due to illegal entry or stay, including citizens of Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Morocco, Algeria, India, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, and Yemen.

These individuals were placed under supervision in the Immigration Center or their movement was restricted to a specific location until their removal from the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Inspection supervision revealed certain irregularities in five facilities, and misdemeanor orders were issued to the owners of the facilities that provided accommodation services to foreign nationals for non-compliance with legal provisions.

The Service for Foreigners Affairs issued a deportation measure with a three-year ban on entry and stay in the territory of BiH to a citizen of Croatia who committed the criminal offense of property alienation in the area of Banja Luka. The inspectors for foreigners then handed over the individual to members of the police of the Republic of Croatia at the GP "Stara Gradiška".

The Service for Foreigners Affairs facilitated the voluntary return of 19 citizens of Turkey who were returned to their country of origin.

From the beginning of 2020, the Service for Foreigners Affairs has dealt with 12,521 migrants, of which 901 migrants were processed in the last seven days alone. Currently, 6,440 migrants are staying in temporary reception centers.

In accordance with its competences and capacities, the Service for Foreigners Affairs will continue with intensified operational activities in response to the increased inflow of migrants into Bosnia and Herzegovina.
