15 million KM invested in reconstruction and equipping of educational institutions in Sarajevo Canton in the last three years

(Patria) - The Ministry of Education of Sarajevo Canton has realized many projects for the reconstruction and equipping of educational institutions in the last three years.

For the reconstruction, renovation, and expansion of primary and secondary school buildings and kindergartens, as well as for investment maintenance and equipment, the relevant ministry allocated approximately 15 million KM during that period.

“We have been renovating and building schools and kindergartens. We have built physics, chemistry, and biology cabinets, and renovated kitchens. Works in many schools included: thermal insulation of the building facade, partial replacement of openings including the removal of glass prisms and installation of new PVC openings in the sports hall and wet areas, replacement of entrance portals, delivery and installation of a condensing gas boiler, installation of automatic regulation and a new burner with reconstruction of gas flow meters with accompanying works on mechanical installations in the boiler room, installation of thermostatic valves on existing radiators... The works also included improving lighting by installing new LED bulbs and light fixtures, as well as replacing floors, windows, roofs, and lighting in the halls. Equipment for cabinets and school entrances was also procured,” the Ministry stated.

Within numerous activities aimed at improving the educational process, missing staff, primarily psychologists and social workers, were hired in schools, the number of mobile expert teams for inclusion was increased, and new computers were procured.

On-site support in the implementation of the education reform, provision of textbooks for students from the 5th to 9th grade, cabinets for exact science subjects, support for gifted students and awards for teachers mentoring gifted students, application of the HACCP system in extended-stay kitchens, are some of the other projects realized in the mentioned period.

“In the coming period, we will continue with the implementation of investment maintenance, renovation, and reconstruction projects for kindergartens and schools. We thank the principals and their associates, as well as the technical staff, for their tireless work in creating the best learning and growth conditions for children,” the Ministry stated.
