Jozo Perić Indicted for War Crimes in Livno

The Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has filed an indictment against Jozo Perić, born on 07.10.1959 in Tomislavgrad, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced, Patria reports.

The accused is charged with acting contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Convention on the protection of civilian persons during war, during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the time of the armed conflict between the Croatian Defence Council and the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the area of northwestern Herzegovina, in the period from July 1993 to the end of February 1994.

According to the indictment, the accused, as a member of the National Security Office - Livno branch, the Department of Internal Affairs of the Croatian Community of Herceg-Bosna, in the area of the Livno municipality, committed the criminal offense of war crimes against the civilian population of Bosniak ethnicity.

He is charged with torture, abuse and inhumane treatment of victims of Bosniak ethnicity.

Due to all of the above, the accused is charged with committing the criminal offense of war crimes against the civilian population under Article 142 of the Criminal Code of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The indictment has been forwarded for confirmation to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
