5.7 Million KM for Members of the Veteran Population

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Government of the Federation of BiH, at today's emergency session in Sarajevo, adopted several programs for the use of funds from the Federal Ministry for Veterans and Disabled Veterans of the Defense-Liberation War, intended for members of the veteran population in 2018, in the total amount of 5,755,000 convertible marks.

Through the current transfer to non-profit organizations determined by the FBiH Budget for 2018, an amount of 270,000 KM was planned for providing legal assistance to members of the veteran population. Of this, 189,000 KM is allocated to the Foundation for Providing Legal Assistance to the Veteran Population Sarajevo, and 81,000 KM to the Foundation for Providing Legal Assistance to the Veteran Population Mostar.

The Program for the use of 675,000 KM from the same transfer for support to the Foundation for Housing Care of Disabled Veterans and the Veteran Population was also adopted.

Through the transfer for assistance in the employment of veteran categories via veteran cooperatives, 2,000,000 KM will be allocated. These decisions will be implemented in accordance with the available budget funds in 2018.

The Program for the use of funds from this ministry for assistance in the medical treatment of veterans for 2018 sets an amount of 1,500,000 KM, and the funds will be distributed monthly in the amount of 1/12 of the available funds, based on individual applications submitted from the date of the public call until October 31, 2018. The right to participate in assistance for medical treatment is held by members of the veteran population (war military invalids and members of their immediate family, family members of martyrs and fallen defenders, demobilized defenders and members of their immediate family).

For co-financing events marking significant dates from the period of the Defense-Liberation War, 300,000 KM will be allocated, of which 220,000 KM for marking significant dates, and the remaining 80,000 KM are intervention funds for supporting programs and projects for urgent and unforeseen cases.

The Program for the use of funds for co-financing the construction, rehabilitation, expansion, and arrangement of memorials, cemeteries, and burial grounds plans funds of 150,000 KM, of which 110,000 KM for memorials, arrangement of cemeteries and burial grounds, and the remaining 40,000 KM are funds for intervention support for programs and projects for urgent and unforeseen cases.

Current transfers to non-profit organizations, associations arising from the Defense-Liberation War, have allocated funds of 460,000 KM, of which 280,000 KM for co-financing the work programs of alliances, organizations, and associations. The amount of 100,000 KM is intended for the traditional holding of sports games of the Alliance of Disabled Veterans of the Federation of BiH and HVIDR-a Mostar, and 80,000 KM are intervention funds for supporting programs and projects for urgent and unforeseen cases.

These funds will be awarded to beneficiaries based on a public call announced by the Federal Minister for Veterans and Disabled Veterans of the Defense-Liberation War, and will be paid quarterly.

For co-financing the costs of funerals and burials of members of the veteran population, funds of 400,000 KM have been allocated, and will be distributed monthly in the amount of 1/12 of the available budget funds during the year, based on individual applications submitted during 2018.

The Federal Government today supported the initiative to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the competent institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina - the Federal Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republika Srpska with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and authorized the Federal Minister of Transport and Communications, Denis Lasić, to sign it. The aim of the Memorandum is to identify priority areas and the scope of cooperation between the competent entity ministries and the EBRD in the construction of highways.
