Vanja Bjelica-Prutina elected President of the Central Election Commission

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The Central Election Commission of BiH at today's session conducted the procedure for electing the president of the Central Election Commission of BiH. The election was held between two members of the BiH CEC from the Serb people, Vanja Bjelica-Prutina and Jovan Kalaba. After the procedure was carried out, the BiH CEC, in accordance with its Rules of Procedure, decided that Vanja Bjelica-Prutina will perform the duty of President of the BiH CEC until 30.06.2020.

All members of the Central Election Commission of BiH attended the session. In accordance with Article 2.6 of the Election Law of BiH, "The President of the Central Election Commission of BiH is elected from among the members of the Central Election Commission of BiH. One member of the Central Election Commission of BiH from the Croat, Bosniak, Serb people, and a member from the Others will serve as President of the Central Election Commission of BiH on a rotational basis, once every seven years for a period of 21 months."

Due to the situation in BiH related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and to prevent the possibility of its spread, the BiH CEC will communicate with the media in the coming period via press releases, email, and telephone. The address of the President of the BiH CEC to the media will be organized as soon as conditions permit.
