Eight delegates voted for Poplašen, and no one was against!

Eight delegates of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina voted yesterday for the proposal to appoint Nikola Poplašen (Chetnik voivode) to the Management Board of the Agency for Higher Education of Bosnia and Herzegovina, five were abstaining, and two delegates did not even attend the session, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Those who voted for Poplašen were Sifet Podžić (DF), Sead Kadić (SDA), Bariša Čolak (HDZBiH), Mario Karamatić (HSS), Zdenka Džambas (HDZBiH), Ljilja Zovko (HDZBiH), Ognjen Tadić (SDS), and Darko Babalj (SDS). Interestingly, two delegates from SDA were abstaining, while no delegate voted against.

Those abstaining were Halid Genjac, Safet Softić, Dragutin Rodić, Nebojša Radmanović, and Sredoje Nović, while Fahrudin Radončić and Martin Raguž were not present at the session of the House of Peoples.

Yesterday's vote in the House of Peoples sparked great controversy in the public, but this decision is not yet final, as it must be confirmed or rejected by the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We remind you, Poplašen was the President of Republika Srpska between November 1998 and September 1999. Due to his refusal to appoint Milorad Dodik as the mandate holder of the Government of Republika Srpska, he was removed by High Representative Carlos Westendorp in March 1999, but he remained in office until September. In March 1993, during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poplašen founded the Serbian Radical Party, and Vojislav Šešelj proclaimed him a voivode, although he later disowned him due to "cooperation with The Hague."
