For Independent Bloc, electronic voting and new conflict of interest law are priorities

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Presidency of the Independent Bloc held a session today, stating that political authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina should stop deepening the crisis with unrealistic promises and dividing the people, and start fulfilling the conditions from the European Commission's Opinion on BiH's application for EU membership. Strengthening our country's institutions and capacity to meet the criteria necessary for EU membership should be a priority.

The Independent Bloc believes that institutional and legislative efforts should focus on the fight against corruption and organized crime, the adoption of a law on conflict of interest, and changes to electoral legislation – enabling electronic voting and scanning of ballots, which would bring much more benefit to the state and citizens than ethno-national slogans.

In the state of continued politics of conflict and division, which this country has been experiencing for decades, the Independent Bloc will insist on a policy of solving real problems and building a state of law that will serve all people, not just the chosen ones. Changes to the election law, in which we will ensure that people's will is respected and trust in the electoral process is restored, are a current priority on which we are working together with other political parties of the alternative in BiH. We expect full support from representatives of the international community and the EU, as this is a prerequisite for us to make the change that citizens and peoples certainly want in BiH.
