(Patria) - In accordance with the Instruction on deadlines and sequence of election activities for the 2024 Local Elections, which will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024, the deadline for submitting applications for certification of participation in the elections for political parties and independent candidates expires on May 24, 2024, at 16:00 hours.
As of today, 290 political parties and independent candidates have submitted requests to the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to open a user account for access to the online portal e-izbori, as follows:
- 113 political parties
- 163 independent candidates
- 12 independent candidates belonging to national minorities
- Two citizens' associations - nominating an independent candidate belonging to a national minority
As of today, three independent candidates have fully completed the application submission process, meaning that in addition to electronically submitting the application, they have fulfilled the obligation to deliver original documentation to the headquarters of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Central Election Commission of BiH will not publish an overview of political parties and independent candidates who have submitted a request to open a user account or an application before the deadline for submitting applications for certification of participation in the 2024 Local Elections.
Applications for certification of a political entity, as well as applications for candidates and candidate lists, are submitted exclusively electronically, via the online portal of the Central Election Commission of BiH "e-izbori". Access to the online portal is achieved using any internet browser by entering the address of the election portal of the Central Election Commission of BiH (https://eizbori.izbori.ba).
The application for certification of a political party or independent candidate must, among other things, include the account number of the political party or independent candidate for financing the election campaign, as well as a report on the turnover of the special account for financing election campaign costs, in accordance with Article 15.1d paragraph (1) of the Election Law of BiH (bank statements from the account or analytical bank card).
We emphasize that an application submitted electronically does not relieve political entities of the obligation to deliver original documents in person to the headquarters of the Central Election Commission of BiH (Ul. Danijela Ozme 7, Sarajevo) before the deadline for submitting applications.
The Central Election Commission of BiH reminds that citizens of BiH who are abroad, if they wish to register to vote from abroad, need to submit their application to vote outside BiH via the e-Izbori portal by July 23, 2024, until 24:00 hours. Detailed information on the procedure for electronic registration of voters abroad has been published by the Central Election Commission of BiH in the Video guide for electronic registration of voters outside BiH, available at the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuBGlg-oXAs.
As of today, 1,219 users have accessed the e-Izbori portal and opened an account. 623 applications have been processed, of which 526 voters meet the conditions for registration in the Central Voters' Register for voting outside BiH, while 97 voters have deficiencies in their applications and have been notified to rectify them.
Displaced persons within BiH, if they wish to change their voting option for the 2024 Local Elections, need to submit a request to the competent municipal/city voter registration center by July 23, 2024.
All information about the 2024 Local Elections, including by-laws, is available to all participants in the election process on a special subpage on the website of the Central Election Commission of BiH at the link: https://www.izbori.ba/Default.aspx?Lang=3&CategoryID=1336
