No one has yet received the 10,000 KM reward for information on missing persons from Vogošća

For more than ten years, the Vogošća Municipal Council has had 10,000 convertible marks available for information leading to the discovery of missing persons from this area, but no truthful report has been received so far.

Mensud Omerović, secretary of the Vogošća Municipal Council, told the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network of Bosnia and Herzegovina that this amount has been available for over a decade.

- The amount is 10,000 KM. The decision has been in place for about ten years for any information that would lead to the discovery of missing persons, but we have never had valid information that would lead to the discovery of missing persons - said Omerović.

Ema Čekić, president of the Association “Families of Missing Persons from the Municipality of Vogošća,” says that she has often received false information about graves in the past.

- People led me to places as if there were graves there, but there is nothing to it. They think they can get money... The money will be given to whoever says where the grave is, so that the bodies can be found, so that it can be established that these are those people, and then the money will be given - says Čekić.

She points out that she spent two months this year investigating false information.

- Unfortunately, exploiting us, the living, and then those dead bones, we received information about one location and I mobilized people from the municipality. Our municipality is always available; I don't even wait for the Prosecutor's Office; if I get information, I call investigators and we go to the field. This year was the same, so we were in the field, but unfortunately, we found nothing. This means it was false information - says Čekić.

Čekić reveals that she has also faced blackmail demanding money in advance for information, but that it was rejected every time.
She points out that 62 missing persons from the Vogošća area are being searched for, including 29 men who were taken from the “Planjina kuća” camp in Semizovac.

- We have never found them, we don't know if we ever will... As time goes by, the chances get smaller - says Čekić, reports Patria.
