Housing issue resolved for 30 displaced families in Derventa

(Patria) - A total of 30 families of displaced persons and returnees in the municipality of Derventa are permanently resolving their housing issue by moving into a new building constructed through the State Housing Solution Project as part of the Regional Housing Programme (RHP) in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The ceremonial handover of keys to the tenants moving into the new apartments will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2020.
 
Thanks to the Regional Housing Programme, with a value of 75 million euros in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a total of 3,200 housing units will be provided for vulnerable refugees, displaced persons, and returnees by the end of the programme. To date, 1,500 housing units have been completed, including 1,100 houses and 400 apartments. The completion of the renovation and construction of the remaining 1,700 housing units is planned for the period 2020–2022. 

For the financing of housing projects and support in the implementation of the programme, RHP donors have so far allocated 287 million euros, of which 64.5 million euros relate to projects in BiH. The European Union is the largest donor with a contribution of 234 million euros, followed by the United States of America with 24 million euros, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, Turkey, as well as several other countries. Strong support for the programme is provided by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), and the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB), which manages the donor fund and provides support to partner countries in implementing the programme and monitoring its progress, as well as in ensuring the programme's visibility. 

Bosnia and Herzegovina has appointed the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH as the Leading Institution of the State Housing Solution Project, and the implementation of sub-projects has been entrusted to the Federal Ministry of Displaced Persons and Refugees, the Republican Secretariat for Displaced Persons and Migration of Republika Srpska, and the Department for Refugees, Displaced Persons, and Housing Issues of the Government of Brčko District BiH.
