Wigemark: BiH can be proud of its youth

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Awards for the best student campaign on socio-economic reforms were presented in Sarajevo, as part of the E4U project with the slogan "Let's light up for the youth of BiH", which for the second year in a row is financed and implemented by the
Office of the EU Special Representative in BiH (EUSR).

Students from 14 public faculties in BiH have spent the past six months, divided into red, pink, yellow, blue, orange, purple, and green teams, with the help of their academic mentors and project experts, working on designing campaigns about the challenges faced by their peers, presenting possible solutions to these problems.

Addressing the young and talented students at the award ceremony, the Head of the EU Delegation to BiH and EU Special Representative, Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, stated that students from BiH have once again shown and proven that they are capable of creating good ideas for solving problems.

They can clearly see and know the way forward for BiH, they can certainly be the drivers of change that will lead this country forward towards EU integration. BiH can rightly be proud of the youth growing up in this country – said Wigemark.

Members of the winning team emphasized that through their work on the project, they became aware of their power as well as the strength that an idea, properly communicated, can have on the state of society. Their winning prize includes a study trip through EU cities, and a visit to Brussels where they will present their campaign to EU institutions.

Through all seven campaigns, students particularly emphasized the need for better education, easier access to the labor market, opportunities for volunteering and professional development, as well as the important role that young people have in Bosnia and Herzegovina in achieving positive change, including through voting in the upcoming elections.

In addition to this award, the expert jury consisting of Amra Bakšić-Čamo, Adis Kadrić, and Fahrudin Ćatović also presented the following awards:

- For the best slogan "Grab an internship at university" designed by students of the blue team from the Faculty of Economics in Pale and the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo.
- For the best visual concept within the campaign "Wake up under your own sky", the green team won the award – students from the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo and the Faculty of Law in Zenica.
