Wigemark: BiH politicians must continue the European path

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The EU Special Representative in BiH and Head of the EU Delegation, Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, said after the adoption of the Western Balkans Strategy that BiH had an opportunity to make great progress, but encountered a standstill.

- What is important to emphasize is that any decision on enlargement, candidate status, or any progress in European integration, depends precisely on the countries that have applied for membership in the European Union - said Wigemark, adding that the expectation is for BiH to submit the completed Questionnaire by the end of this month.

Wigemark told all politicians that they have one common goal, and that is progress on the path of European integration for the general good.

- It is not only important to reach the next elections and deal with combinations of how many representatives you will have in which body, but where you see yourselves in 10 years. The European Union, with this Strategy, has confirmed that the doors are open to everyone in this region - emphasized Wigemark.

He stressed that it is necessary to continue with reforms and not fall into the traps of political games, adding that even the European Union sometimes falls under such influence.
